Environmental News

MBC Executive and members of the community group Our Grandchildren Matter Too…Save Maple Lake have been in touch with David Bradley, District Manager, Peterborough District, Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks concerning the septage field on the 25th Line above Maple Lake.  The site is owned and operated by Haliburton Septic Pumping.

Mr. Bradley confirmed the following.  “Consistent with the agreement that was reached there has been no applications or requests for extensions to use the site beyond November 30, 2019 for the land application of the hauled sewage.  In the absence of a valid Environmental Compliance Approval, any land application of sewage after this date would be a violation of the Environmental Protection Act.”

We will be watching with much interest and anticipation the date November 30, 2019.  It will be most rewarding to see the gates to this property closed for the final time.
